Carolyn's Comments

THANK YOU to all my loyal readers and to the many new subscribers

You may also enjoy reading some of the past newsletters on my archives page at www.taichiflow.com/news.htm (scroll down for newsletters).

I often get emails from people asking questions about Tai Chi or Energy Work. Check out the archives first because many of these questions are answered in previous articles.

And….if you have ideas for future “Living in the Flow” articles, I’d love to
hear your suggestions! Just send me an email.

Group Energy Healing Phone Sessions

“Melt the Madness Mondays” have been quite a success! These group phone sessions are offered two Mondays of each month at 11:30 am my time (Mountain Time)- that’s 10:30 am Pacific, 12:30 pm Central, and 1:30 pm Eastern time.

I have also had several requests to do these in the evenings, so stay tuned and I will try to do an occasional evening, maybe starting in June.

I offer 6 different TOPICS, rotated so that every 3 months we begin again. Each call is different depending on who is calling in and what their specific issues are regarding that topic. You can join every call, or just jump in here and there for a single topic that interests you.

Here is what’s coming up:

April 14 - Relationships
May 5th - Finances

Thanks to all of you who joined in for the April 7th “Healthy Body” call. We have one more in April coming up this Monday! In May I will only be holding one Group Call because of my Jerusalem trip, my son’s graduation, Memorial day, CH training, etc, etc. But don’t worry, we’ll get back to it in June.

Featured Article: World Tai Chi / Qigong Day!

Saturday, April 26th is the10th Anniversary of this exciting global event!

World Tai Chi and Qigong Day was founded in 1998 by Bill Douglas, the author of the best selling "The Complete Idiot's Guide to T'ai Chi and Qigong, " with the purpose of educating the world to the profound implications that Tai Chi & QiGong can offer our personal, social, and world health. Each year this celebration is held on the last Saturday in April, the same month as United Nations World Health day and Earth day. It features Tai Chi & QiGong groups around the world gathering at 10 am (each city's local time) to exhibit Tai Chi & QiGong to the public at mass gatherings in public parks or the lawns of public buildings, so as to be visible to the community and media.

Losing both of his parents to stress related illnesses energized Douglas to help millions of others worldwide enjoy the health and stress-reduction benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong. This eventually led him to found this annual global World Tai Chi and Qigong Day event. The popularity of World Tai Chi and Qigong Day has spread each year since its founding, and the observance now features events on six continents, in sixty countries, and all fifty of the United States!

"World Tai Chi and Qigong Day is a loose, fun, flowing, and profoundly effective global celebration and media/educational event," Founder Bill Douglas states. "It was created by people worldwide who have experienced the joy and healing of Tai Chi and Qigong health sciences and now, for love of humanity, want to share them."

With nearly 500 million practitioners around the globe, the Tai Chi and Qigong arts are arguably the most popular forms of exercise in the world. Tai Chi and Qigong are non-competitive, low-impact aerobic exercises coordinating deep breathing with slow movements.

The health benefits and calming effects of Tai Chi and Qigong are well documented. Studies show that regular practice improves muscle tone and balance, increases flexibility and boosts the immune system. Mental benefits include increased concentration, decreased stress levels and improved mind/body awareness. The Journal of Psychosomatic Research reports, "Tai Chi reduces stress responses, lowering the incidence of anxiety, depression, fatigue, and general mood disturbance" (Journal of Psychosomatic Research, 1989 Vol 33(2) 197-206).

The benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong aren't reserved for healthy people, Tai Chi and Qigong are ideal for the elderly, people recovering from illness or surgery, or those struggling with chronic conditions. Gentle movements are done at a slow pace and students can tailor the moves to their own physical capabilities. According to the American Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, "Tai Chi is probably the lowest weight bearing exercise, and modified forms can be suitable even for arthritis sufferers" (American Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, June 1991, 70 (3) p 136-141). Tai Chi has been recommended as an adjunct therapy for chronic pain, arthritis, insomnia, asthma, high blood pressure, Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, fibromyalgia, and psychosomatic illness.

So don’t miss out! ~~

In parks and recreation centers all over the world beginning at 10 am in the earliest time zone, people will meet together to practice Tai Chi and Qigong. As 10:00 am rolls around in each time zone, this healing wave flows from city to city, state to state, country to country, all around the world!

This day is officially recognized by the United Nations, World Health Organization, and governors and mayors in all 50 states. Support your local Tai Chi community for this annual health and healing event which is held in 60 nations. Most cities and towns that have a Tai Chi/Qigong school or instructor will hopefully be joining in the celebration. Carolyn Recommends: Eat a little dark chocolate

Eat a little dark chocolate. It's good for you - it has antioxidants and flavonoids that improve heart health. And it's good for your mood - dark chocolate has a number of chemically active compounds that improve your mood by increasing levels of serotonin (the happy neurotransmitter) and endorphins in the brain.

Forever Green Company offers exceptional life enhancing products including, an organic, dark chocolate that is delicious, bioavailable and packed with phytonutrients. I love the 24 Karat Chocolate fondue wafers! They are pure organic chocolate with an incredible natural flavor. I keep mine in the freezer for a 'cool' little afternoon snack!
