How do I get past my family's belief that struggling is noble?

My past financial mistakes still seem to influence my present behavior.

You know that living things have energy, and the energy can be positive or negative. That’s an oversimplification, of course, but you know what I’m talking about. Did you know that your home has energy too? I’m not talking about gas and electric, as I’m sure you’ve guessed. I’m talking about the living energy of the home that manifests through the people who live there, the activities they engage in and its overall spirit.
