Welcome to Living in the Flow!

Welcome to Living in the Flow! My name is Carolyn Cooper, and I am an energy intuitive therapist, teacher, speaker and instructor. In my blog I hope to educate readers about energy healing, vibrational therapy and other therapies the National Institutes of Health (NIH) call Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM).

I’d like to open the blog with a brief history of energy healing.

3000 BC: Meridian energy therapies are practiced in China and Tibet.

600 BC: The founder of Greece’s first metaphysical mystery school, Orpheus, introduces vibrational medicine, strongly influencing both Pythagorus and Plato.

200 AD: Ptolemy observes patterns of color rays coming from the sun into the eyes produced a feeling of euphoria.

1838: The photoelectric effect is discovered, i.e., that shining light on certain materials can function to eject electrons from the material, proving that energy resides everywhere.

1876: Augustus Pleasanton uses blue light to stimulate the glandular system.

1877: Physicist Ludwig Boltzmann suggests that the energy states of a physical system could be discrete.

1878: Dr. Edwin Babbitt uses variant colors to heal internal organs.

1900: German physicist Max Planck introduces the idea that energy is quantized and that any energy-radiating atomic system can theoretically be divided into a number of discrete ‘energy elements’ ? (epsilon) such that each of these energy elements is proportional to the frequency ? with which they each individually radiate energy.

1908: Aura Soma developed in England used colors to heal physical and emotional symptoms and promote psychological change.

1914(?): Japanese retired naval officer Chujiro Hayashi requests to develop the therapeutic aspects of Dr. Mikao Usui’s system separate from the stringent meditative practices, which eventually becomes Hayashi Shiki Reiki, Rei meaning universal or highest and Ki meaning subtle energy, like the Chinese chi.

1941: Dr. Harry Riley Spitler formulated “The Syntonic Principle” stating that light by way of the eyes balances the autonomic nervous system.

1964: Dr. Neva Dell Hunter blended Quimby’s science with her understanding of the human energy fields and, with John-Clarke McDougall, developed aura balancing.

1980: Dr. Thomas Budzynski used phototherapy to accelerate learning.

1996: Carolyn Cooper began her energy healing practice.
